Note, I'm from Germany, PAL is PAL, the video quality is good for analog and digital receivers, but sync between audio and video became ridiculous since Germany switched to digital. OTOH I agree, that at least the cost factor for digital is something positive. I can't maintain an analog home recording studio, but it's possible to pay for digital gear and there is quasi nothing to maintain. Just those SMPS from time to time need some capacitors or extreme exotic resistors nobody has got on stock. Old power supplies were much more durable and didn't pollute the mains. But, without digital technology I wouldn't have a home recording studio anymore.
