You don't seem to have any problem with conflicting IRQs.
Each kernel comes with such a huge list of fixes, that it's hard to make
any conclusion from them, at least for me.

Do you only get xruns at low latencies?

Changing settings from 64 frames per period to 128 reduced, but didn't eliminate the xruns, while 512 seemingly did (still tested "idle", no audio playing or recording).

If not, I would like for you to test the generic kernel also, at higher
latency settings to see if you get the same problem there.

I already deleted the generic kernel from my system because it sent jack on strike. Lots of error messages on startup and music players freezing playback if I tried to use jack sink and source. I didn't try with higher latency, though.

I'm not going to try again, either, being on my way to start meddling with 13.04, I'll focus the trial and error on the 3.8 branch...

Thank you very much for constructive and helpful input!

And lastly, if only lowlatency is affected, and you feel confident that
there is a clear regression, please submit a bug report against
linux-lowlatency. Get yourself an account at http://launchpad.net. then,
from the terminal, do: ubuntu-bug linux-lowlatency. And describe the
regression.
