Hello Glenn, Ubuntu Studio does not enable the partition installation test case since we have been under-manned on testers for a few cycles. For each testing call we might only have 2-3 testers (and most of them are Ubuntu Studio developers or long-time contributors) and we sometimes can't make sure we can manage to test all test cases we have currently, not to mention the manual partitioning test case.
In the meantime, manual partitioning is not, under normal circumstances, a Ubuntu Studio issue. Instead it lies on ubiquity, the Ubuntu installer. I would like to ask you to try out the latest daily image of Ubuntu (located at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current) and see if you can make it work for you. If it doesn't, please report a bug against ubiquity on Launchpad. We thank you for your generous support in testing our images.
