Am back to the 'Unable to connect to server' message.
Here is the Qjackctl message;

This message is the same, whether 'pulseaudio --kill' is run at startup
or not. And 'pulseaudio --start' at qjackctrl Quit.
-dhw:1 seems correct, for the EMU10K1 card.
