Hi Ubuntu Translators, I'm pleased to announce that Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) translations are now open to the community on Launchpad.
The initial release of the UNR project contained a set of third party translations which are now available through Launchpad Translations. Along with these, some not yet reviewed community contributions were also submitted, as explained further below. We have to especially thank Kyle Nitzsche, from the OEM team, for his awesome work and dedication to opening up the UNR translations for us. Good job Kyle! The UNR project consists of: • A meta project at https://launchpad.net/unr containing a list of sub projects (one per package). • The following sub projects with translatable strings: ∘ desktop-switcher ∘ go-home-applet ∘ human-netbook-theme ∘ Ubuntu Netbook Remix Launcher ∘ webfav (see notes) ∘ window-picker-applet == Translation workflow == These projects are now: • Community-managed through the Ubuntu Translators group, with 'Restricted' permissions (see notes below) • Populated with existing translations • Upstream to Ubuntu, which means that each Ubuntu release will import the translations from them. Therefore, the recommended branch to translate will be 'trunk'. == Notes == === Ubuntu Netbook Remix Launcher translations === During development, the translation permissions of the Launcher project were left to 'Open' for some time. Additionally, two different templates were uploaded during this time. This caused some unreviewed translations to be accepted for some languages in both templates. To recap: • In those languages where there were third party translations, they were used. Unreviewed community translations were additionally uploaded, and they now appear as suggestions in Launchpad. • In those languages where there weren't any translations available and some unreviewed community contributions went through, they were extracted and you'll find them attached in this e-mail for your consideration. This affects the following languages: bg, en_AU, fa, hr, nds, th, yi, ceb, en_CA, fil, iu, pap, tl, zh_HK, cy, et, fy, lt, sr, uk Please check that the current translations -especially in the Launcher subproject- follow the standards of your team. As a side note, remember that Rosetta has had this feature-> http://blog.launchpad.net/translations/translations-style-guides for some time now, and that you can use it to provide a link to your team's guidelines for all translators to see. == Webfav == Please note that the webfav project is not yet set up for translations. It is a Firefox add-on that uses XPI (not gettext) format. Its purpose is to allow a user to save the current web page into the "Favorites" section of the launcher. Stay tuned for more information on this. == Translation permissions == We selected 'Restricted' because these translations may be used for custom projects, and we'd like to be sure that all translation work is reviewed by Ubuntu Translators, even for new languages. See [1] for more information on permissions. If you've got any further questions, please feel free to ask as usual. Happy translating!
