There are a great many issues when attempting to compile other languages help system for ubuntu-docs. This message occurs lots (the example is for Bosnian):
"Warning: Could not merge bs translation for msgid:" What does it mean? It means the US-English string will be used instead, and the translators work is ignored. What is the cause? The dominate cause is incorrect syntax on the closing tag of a tag pair, where, and for example, </ gui> is used instead of </gui>. No space character is allowed. There are several hundred of these type of errors in the translations. Many languages I have fixed. For Bosnian, Greek and maybe some others, we will fix the .po files upon NonLanguagePackTranslationDeadline ( 2014.04.03 21:00 UTC) , for this particular issue only (a space after </ ), using a single search and replace SED command. This e-mail is just a reminder for translators to be careful with the markup language embedded syntax, as the build process is unforgiving. For information as to how your specific regional code builds, you can refer to the build logs (they are large and can be hard to follow) for the PPA that Gunnar pointed to the other day. . Doug
