Hi everyone,
In the ubuntu weather app we show some standard SI unit abbreviations
like
kmh, mph, degree celcius etc and was wondering if these should be
translatable? Do other languages display them differently? I have noticed
that every time I presume that a certain abbreviation or word is the same
in all languages, I am almost always wrong ;-). And so here I am to get
your advice.
Cheers,
Nekhelesh
Hi,
Yes, they are translatable. At least for Cyrillic scripts.
More data for the particular locales can be found here:
http://st.unicode.org/cldr-apps/v#locales///
Choose language, then "Units" section.
Example (Ukrainian):
m -> м
km -> км
kmh -> км/год (Not a SI unit btw ;) )
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Yuri
