I do not know how about Russian but many if not most of Polish strings are
translated outside Launchpad. You should rather contact Mozilla or at least
visit their website for tips. Yes You can find some strings to translate on
launchpad but as I already experienced noone takes much care about them.

Hi! A user from our Russian Ubuntu forum asked where to translate some
strings from Mozilla Thunderbird preferences: "Show in the messaging
menu", "For messages in all folders", "Only for messages in my Inbox
folder".

He posts a bug report
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1247559) and received an
answer: "It's from Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher integration plugin".
Well, I found where is these strings in the source code
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~extension-hackers/messagingmenu-extension/trunk/view/head:/locale/ru/messagingmenu.properties),

but do somebody know where to translate them on Launchpad?

I haven't found anything either. You could translate the file and attach
it to a new bug.
