This seems to be a bit of a pattern, sadly, as if translator time did
not matter. First time I started pulling hair over this was when I found
out that Launchpad a) does not sync translations with upstream projects
and b) it is littered with dead project which are still "open" to
translation.
All of this does is not conducive to cultivating a happy localization
community.
The lack of communication from "above" is actually becoming a bit
worrying too, I had that happen with Google In Your Language and a few
others, usually followed by a blogpost by a third party informing the
community the project is dead. Maybe I should back up the Launchpad
translations for our locale...

All what someone does over there (Canonical) is splitting the
community (GNOME to Unity switch + now killing UTouch) and
discouraging people who sacrificed their time. I'm happy that apart
from the phone project I didn't waste to much time translating Unity.
