I can't help and reply only because I know how it feels to have a mailing

The 'ubuntu-uk' list is for the ubuntu users in UK and its mainly aimed
at letting users know about regional events. You can also get help about
the regional stuff like, how to install welsh support in openoffice?

Thank you for the reply, I was not aware that this was the main aim of this list, perhaps this is something that might be added to the "Welcome to the [email protected] mailing list!" that's sent on joining.

I am not sure if this is the main aim, but this is what I have observed since I joined the list. ubuntu-users list is the most active list with generic questions related to Ubuntu apps. But as you said, if this is the main aim, then the list maintainers must add it to the welcome e-mail.
