I had a quick look John, and I can't seem to turn up an Open Source program for blood sugar monitoring.
I'm guessing it's a serial/usb port connection that connects the device to the computer and then stores the readings? You can Windows software to run on Linux however. 1) Try WINE. This is a Windows 'compatibility layer' which lets some Windows programs run on Linux 2) Get VMWare - You can then run a copy of Windows inside your Linux operating system. That way you can get access to your blood sugar problem.
