I hope that you won't give up. Minor hiccups like this do sometimes happen. Hopefully our suggestions will encourage you to keep trying with Ubuntu. > [snip] > I suspect that my problem was caused by simply trying to add multimedia > features to Open Office presentations. I would guess that you chose a 'recommended' package while adding the Java package that enhances OpenOffice.org. Unless you are a Java programmer (like me), you can safely abort the installation/configuration of the sun-java5-doc package, as Eddie suggested. It's very technical documentation only intended as a reference for programmers. If anyone else reading the thread would like the docs, the option to download the files mentioned (jdk-1_5_0-doc.zip or jdk-1_5_0-doc-ja.zip) appears if you click the button under the "J2SE 5.0 Documentation" heading, as Matthew said. You only need one of the two files. Hope this helps. Hwyl, Neil. -- [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
