Theres no real need to do this since

SyslogD and Cron should do the pruning but you might want to run a 
scheduled grep to seek key phrases and move those logs for later 
inspection I assume your sending all logs to one central log server ?

Yes theres lots some intuitive, some process driven, all planned and 
considered. I guess it comes down to personality and mind set as to the 
approach though.
