Is there an Ubuntu UK forum anywhere?

well yes and no.

We do have a forum , but we really want to have it integrated into the
mail list. There is however nothing to stop people using the forums,
nothing at all in fact, but we would hate to miss out on announcements,
invites, discussions and ideas on the forum or maill list because of the
duality of the communication medium.

As an old newbie to linux (76 ish) I prefer mailing lists & usenet to
Web Forums (sorry if the terminology is wrong) I'm sure you know what
I mean.

As a long time Windows/DOS user I still find linux difficult.

I've been using some of my essential programs for over 10 years,
Quicken (finance) and Sidekick (contacts)

(amongst others)

I've tried to use wine and vmware to run these programs using linux
but for me it's too difficult and not worth the effort.

I'll keep following the discussions.
Thank you all that there are still alternatives to Windows & MAC.

Vic

Its my birthday today (I don't believe it!) and I'm a 30's baby and suffer as you do..... most probably for the same reasons

Never managed to get wine and Adobe working together - they just sit there and "glower" at each other but never actually talk

VM would be  nice and being able to instantly flick (click) from windows to Ubuntu - perhaps some of the youngsters might help one day!!
