Ding Ding Ding! This is the error message. Open /etc/apt/sources.list in your fave text editor, like this:- ALT+F2, gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list Go to line 40 and see what's wrong with it. Maybe a line has wrapped where it shouldn't have. The lines should start with a "#" if it's a comment, "deb" if it's a source of binary packages or "deb-src" if it's a source of source packages. Fix it, save it. Try Synaptic again. Cheers, Al.
