I have a pc which needs to run the live CD (of 8.04 RC) in safe
graphics mode. Which is ok, no problem. However, it is the sort of
machine which some new users might want to use the windows installer
wubi, to install it inside windows.

I tried this, because wubi is a great method for some newcomers, and I
talk to a lot of them.

However, I could not see any safe graphics mode option for the wubi
install, and after the install, the display was blank - no surprise
perhaps. As an 'experienced' user, trusting that everything was
working and knowing what to expect anyway, I can login without seeing
any display and then I can use ctrl alt F1 and examine /etc/X11/xorg.conf
But - I can see nothing in this file, in hardy, that I can usefully
edit........

The recent approach to xorg.conf content seems to be different to that
used in the past.

A safe graphics option in wubi would be the best solution probably
however, I would like to know what I could do using CL to manage the
graphics in 8.04 now. Any suggestions please?
