The 8.04 way of wubi is to insert the live CD into a working windows system, click install into Windows, then it loads. It seems to take the information, image or whatever, direct from the CD ( *not* the 600MB download that a simple wubi exe would need if you ran it naked in windows) and then you re-boot. Most windows users feel very comfortable about a re-boot anyway......... it is all they ever do. On re-boot it offers windows as default or Ubuntu. Windows would run as normal albeit with a new ubuntu folder. The choice of Ubuntu leads to a request for username and password, (linux culture gently beginning...) and then, you are into normal ubuntu. It is hard to see the join, or the difference from a full normal install, although I am sure there is a difference if you know where to look. I guess there will be Ubuntu updates then, also expected in windows culture, but the ubuntu ones will be more visible and open with much less mumbo jumbo than windows. I think it will be readily used by those wanting to try stuff. Most windows users who want to escape have never installed windows themselves, so they will not want to start partitioning.
