Another option to look into is ebox which uses ldap as its backend, I
have yet to try this but it looks good and is available for debian and
ubuntu.

Sme Server is a good option last time i used it though, it had no ldap
backend for managing users and replication but you can just copy the
users account files between servers as a backup job.
