Thoughts that come to mind... * Do you really, _really_ need the ISO on the day of release? * Could you get it two days later? * How about rate limiting the download to reduce housemate annoyance using wget --limit-rate <url> * Come to the release party - someone will likely have a CD there (not a shipit one, but a home burn) * Download the release candidate ISO now, and then use rsync or jigdo on the day to update it (minimal download - can also be rate limited). * Contact your local LUG to ask if someone else has high speed broadband and would be willing to help? * other suggestions I haven't thought of yet...
