Doesn't matter so much though if you don't have a HDTV. If you do then maybe you'd be worth looking at a HD media extender like the Popcorn Hour which is currently about £200 (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=177495&partner=froogle). It was recently reviewed in Linux format and it does a whole load of different formats plus has an interface for an internal hard drive (and Ethernet) or maybe you could look at building a MythTV box to plug into the TV (you'd be looking at about £200 to £300 depending on what kit you get).
I was lucky enough to be given a bare boxes small form factor HP PC for exactly this. Just need to get a CPU and hard drive for it (oh and a couple of Freeview sticks). Rob -- [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
