That would make sense to me too, as if you have a static IP you're
going to want it to go to somewhere on your network (otherwise what's
the point?).

Having said that I don't know why the machine can't get to the other
machines on the network and the internet - I'd expect the Homehub to
offer two IP addresses to the clients and route communication between
the two "networks" automatically.

Sounds more and more like a problem with the router the more I think about it.
