I am running Ubuntu 9.04, and a few days ago upgraded the kernel to
2.6.28-13.

Today though the system update program says I have new updates, and it
includes the same kernel again.

Is it necessary to install the same one again, or is it a slightly
modified version that I need instead of the one I am running? Although
if it is different, surely the version number would be different?

The output of uname -r shows:
2.6.28-13-generic
