The proprietary driver issue is a bit of a pig, but I have full respect for where the Debian project is coming from. I'm running a few Debian servers around the place now and loving it, and the desktop I have runs like a charm - as I have suggested previously it seems surprisingly fast from a cold start compared to my last Ubuntu install. My first thoughts when installing for the first time in a while was "When did Debian get a graphical installer??"
