Hello Barry, I am running Ubuntu 11.04 development branch and things are okay for me at the moment. I update daily but trying an update/upgrade this evening there are some gmome session package updates I have not applied yet. gnome-session gnome-session-bin gnome-session-common gnome-settings-daemon libgavl1 libnotify4 libpurple-bin libpurple0 media-player-info Have you tried logging in to the Ubuntu classic desktop, from the login screen? This may give an idea if this is a unity problem or a wider gnome problem. I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on a Lenovo x201T with intel graphics chip.
