Hello Tony,
The reasons for not including Gnome 3 libraries and therefore not yet
supporting Gnome Shell (which requires Gnome 3) has been well discussed
online and I believe the decision was well documented at the last UDS
meeting.

The essential point as I understand was that Gnome 3 seemed unlikely to be
ready when the planning for Ubuntu 10.04, so it was planned to stick with
Gnome 2 for this release.
