Is the classic interface using gnome 3?

The Classic interface in 11.04 uses GNOME 2.x, because 11.04 ships
with GNOME 2.x not GNOME 3.x.

and is this going to remain an
option, i currently run 11.04 with classic will i still have this option
if i upgrade to 11.10?

No.

Ubuntu 11.10 will ship with GNOME 3.x and Unity 3D as the default
desktop with Unity 2D as the alternative option, not Classic.

Al.

Just a thought, would it be possible to install the xubuntu-desktop package to install Xubuntu then upgrade to Xubuntu 11.10 from there?
