Hello Simon,

Still not working it seems. I killed empathy, cleared the config,
removed ~/.mission-control/accounts folder and reloaded empathy and it
was still exactly the same (event remembered my accounts). I then ran
an apt-get purge empathy and it still saved my account details.

Weeeird.
