Top posting and bottom posting/in line comments have context sensitive benefits. If there are no in line comments or no logical sequence, or much detail, in discussion, then bottom posting can be tedious, if not even silly. In my family emails it would be inappropriate to bottom post. Also in my previous business experience in a major water company for 10 years, emails had a stand alone status, and a displayed thread showed the latest email at the top. In a technical forum, or other environment where discussions are very likely to have a logical sequence, and often a discussion thread with many comments, then in line comments and bottom posting have a strong benefit.
