However, that's not the point. Surface, like the iPad is an integrated product, with all components ultimately being produced by Microsoft - the hardware is currently built under licence but they want to bring it in house. I wouldn't expect Canonical to want to do that as it's counter to the principle of free and open software, and indeed hardware, which is why they're looking for partners for the hybrid phone/PC device and other hardware.
