As for payment handling, there are plenty of client side implementations that are open source but the server side APIs generally aren't, and it does lead to the eternal question of how 'pure' open source can be and the answer is almost always up to the point where it has to interface with systems that don't share the philosophy, and financial systems are, for legal reasons as well as for security, inevitably closed. s/ -- Twitter: @sfgreenwood "TBA are particularly glib"
