My advice would be to use Calibre locally, then just synchronise the library folder to a server and use COPS: http://blog.slucas.fr/en/oss/calibre-opds-php-server I use Calibre + ownCloud + COPS for my eBook library. If ownCloud is too big, just replace it with Unison/rsync/whatever to upload the files.
