Take get-iplayer for instance. I install that on my system and (to my knowledge) I am not able to browse through the source. It is buried away in the system and just works. That is what I am wanting. You install it , you use it, no faffing about.

Not sure what you mean by that.

But basically you need to package it up and submit it to the store, or
package it up and submit it to (for example) Debian (so everyone gets
it) or Ubuntu 14.10, if it's non-commercial. If it's a commercial app
then you can submit it to the Software Centre, and there's some docs
here about that
