I did contact them at one time to check on permissions in order to make static clings (I'd rather put those on my laptop faces than real stickers, and also on the car). If memory serves, Canonical is fine with any printings, provided no changes are made to the logo/colors. I was also told that if I needed an actual "release" to contact them again. I'll see if I can dig up that email again if needed...
