Dear Ohio,
I am a new producer here in Cincinnati, OH and I am very interested in the Open Source Community, as a focus for exploring content. I have very rarely if ever seen any television programming geared towards any type of computational concepts and I would like to do some work to be a part of that change as a member of the Public Media Community here in Cincinnati. There is a man named ERK that is the Butler County Really Local Community Team Leader. We are planning on meeting after the 9th of this month to discuss content that would be of use to both the world of Public Media and the world of Open Source Software. Both communities to me have similarities in that they thrive on word of mouth and are niche markets in the public discourse. I know that the television model as we know it is changing significantly as slowly and at an increasing rate people are collecting their media from portals online such as YouTube and Netflix and iTunes. The whole concept of tuning in at 5pm to see your programming offered is changing to watching what you want when you want because you want to. The gatekeepers of mainstream media are retiring and an entirely new model of content dissemination is being developed or rather has been developed and my generation and the generations younger than myself are growing up in and becoming comfortable in a world where television is not the major purveyor of media comfort food. I am proposing the creation of pilot content here at Media Bridges for the purpose of informing the public of Cincinnati and the Media Bridges Community about the world that you are creating. I believe that what Ubuntu and Linux and the Public Media Model all have in common is that they thrive on community organizing and serve to become developed by the group for the group. I love that. I love it heavily and would like to get feedback from you, the Ubuntu Community. What ideas would you like to see explored on a television program for thirty to sixty minutes? Would you be willing to record yourself discussing ideas that you feel are important for the purpose of having that content published on television? What software do you think people overlook in the Open Source Community and pass over that should be considered more mainstream software? How do you feel about the Ubuntu Community now , how vibrant is it to you? Where do you see open source software five years from now? I would be interested to hear your responses and will be taking any correspondence that comes from this and bring it to Eric the Butler County Ubuntu Lead and we will be discussing your responses then after the 9th of October. Thank you so much for your hard work and your organizational structure. This is where the new is and you are making it daily. Thank you. If you feel moved enough by this email please feel free to call me and talk to me personally. I would dig that heavily. Nicholas Lawson Ph: 513 312 5204 Em: [email protected]
