Hello !
I am Damien Calloway, from Columbus OH. I met some of you at Ohio Linux
Fest. Well, all of you practically. I am fairly new to open culture,
having gone to PyCamp, then PyOhio this summer. Then, hitting a brick
wall trying to do Django development on Windows 7. After which, I bought
a laptop with Ubuntu installed. And whilst there are a few rough edges,
I find the terminal/bash to be far more useful than the Windows command
prompt (or Powershell, for that matter...)
At this time, I am studying BSc IT - Software at Western Governors
University, with about a year or so left. I have been trying to find a
way to bridge a gap between what I am learning, what I already know, and
what is needed to become gainfully employed in IT as a developer. I have
been inspired to continue using Ubuntu, continue learning bash, and
Python, and PostgreSQL, and participate in open culture in general.
Insofar as my entire open experience is currently driven by Ubuntu, It
seemed natural to plug into the Ohio Ubuntu organisation.
So... after having seen a few messages in archive, what next ? I am
still trying to find my way around the Ubuntu part of the internet, and
looking for ways to contribute/jump in/etc. Is there a particular
project that Ubuntu Ohio sponsors ? Are there any particular parts of
Ubuntu that is recommended to contribute to ?
Damien Calloway
