crash when selecting an item from a popover

Bug description:
Running devel-proposed, the browser crashes reliably when selecting an
option from a popover.

There's a category selection right next to the search field. Open it,
select something => boom!
Confirmed this with any popover. For example it prevents me from
logging in at heathrow airport.
