Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have :
- an Intel D945GCLF2 mother board.
- Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04
- Kernel 2.6.28.11
- Gnome 2.26.1
The first time I tried to install Ubuntu 8.10, It failed, with a blank screen.
I did it again choosing the video safe option.
In a few days I upgraded to 9.04. I then investigated the video board set up
and I found out in xorg.conf, that the intel driver is not loaded, using vesa
instead.
I had the same problem running Xubuntu 9.04 live (vesa instead of intel ).
Just to do some test I tried two live distros, Zenwalk live 5.2, and PCLinuxOS
2009.1. They both detected correctly the IGD, intel driver was enabled, the fps
with glxgears is skyrocketing compared to Ubuntu/Xubuntu. (Yes I know this is
not a good benchmark for 3D, but it sure beats the crap outta that damn vesa
drive....)
I opened this thread to specifically point out the installation problem on this
mother board.
I did try the dpkg-reconfigure tricks, but it seems to me that the problem is
configuration detection related.
