IMPORTANT: The problem doesn't affect armagetron. This was simply a bad setting on my part for that game specifically. Adanaxis, and Freelancer, however, ARE affected.
There is nothing new in Xorg log after using the affected applications, though adanaxis spits out: 20090419T140356Z: Warning: SDL video mode failed - trying without FSAA when started.
