I thought I submitted a follow-up to this several weeks ago but for some reason I'm not seeing it now. In response to your questions, at the time I submitted this bug I had no customizations to xorg.conf. I'm attaching the output of "lspci -vvnn" here (this output comes from intrepid although it's exactly the same hardware I experienced the bug under).
