I have fixed it (I hope) by updating to 260.19.21 from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates
My last post wasn't very helpful (perhaps because my firefox was so slow). I am on Ubuntu 10.10 x64 with 3 monitors on 2 Nvidia 8600s using xinerama. I was using very old nvidia/xorg from 10.04 because of the problems with (mostly) QT apps crashing xorg with xinerama but updated yesturday.
