That log file just shows a generic lockup, nothing actually usable for
diagnosis. Please collect a full backtrace - see
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for directions.
Offhand, maybe it's an ABI incompatibility - those proprietary
applications might need rebuilt against current X or something.
