Had the same problem. Installed it manually and all is fine again. (ctrl+alt+1, /etc/init.d/gdm stop, sh nvidia (...).run, reboot -> on my machine. some elements may differ from your setup, -> check wikis. driver will be installed correctly if done by hand)
