I've installed ubuntu 11.10 beta-1 on a test partition. Xscreensaver is no longer pre-installed, but after installing it and xscreensaver-gl, I find glblur produces approximately 30 fps at a load of 80% and 28 polys. Quite similar to the result for 10.04 with the xorg-edgers ppa but still not quite as good as 9.04.
