This affects me too. Thanks for the picture. At first I thought the artifacts were caused by compiz when I was swtching between viewports with Ctrl-Alt left/right/up/down. But now I see that dragging a window within the same viewport causes the artifacting. So was guessing this is a compiz issue. It's also my experience that the problem goes away with unity-2d. And the problem only arose after upgrading to oneiric from natty.
