I'm not sure I'm ready to upgrade to oneiric just to test this bug. A full system upgrade seems somewhat risky and I'm still learning about the UI changeover. As I understand it, Oneiric no longer has Gnome classic. I have briefly tried the Oneiric Live CD. But, this problem is intermittent and I don't have a well defined way to reproduce it.
