Public bug reported:

When using xscreensaver with glslideshow, the X server randomly crashes
after a few hours. Typically, this manifests itself by my coming to the
computer after leaving it overnight, only to find it at the X login
screen. This happens most nights, and sometimes during the day if I
leave the computer long enough. I see the following in Xorg.0.log.old:

Ubuntu is version 11.10.
The "xorg" package is 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1.
The machine is a Lenovo Thinkpad W500. lspci -v reports:

I'm using the "Unity 2D" login and metacity window manager as "Unity"
and compiz suffer from severe screen corruption (which may or may not be
related).
