With the release of the new package I did happily see that the patch from revision 921 (which fixed the problem for me) was added. Unfortunately I had to realize that also "xaa_solid.patch" was added what re-introduced the gimp-hang for me. I was also reporting that upstream in bug 354, and thus this second patch was not applied upstream.
