Good morning!
I'm already using:
$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=11.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=oneiric
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 11.10"
$ uname -a
Linux taeuber 3.0.0-16-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 27 17:44:39 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
And my only working org.conf contains this section:
Section "Device"
Identifier "PCI"
BusID "PCI:3:7:0"
Driver "radeon"
Screen 0
Option "Monitor-DVI-0" "Eizo22"
Option "Monitor-DVI-1" "Eizo24"
Option "TripleBuffer" "true"
Option "Accel" "Off"
EndSection
Additionally I've disabled all the glx functions:
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AIGLX" "false"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection
Section "Module"
Disable "glx"
EndSection
I don't have xv support which is _really_ bad!
But it's usable for normal office programms.
It wasn't better with any earlier ubuntu version.
I've tested to change all the settings after every upgrade.
The system is pingable but X11 isn't working.
Thanks for your care.
Lars
