The system has an old i865 graphics card, which is older than what we
support in Ubuntu.  Thus this issue is not appropriate for a precise SRU
fix.

However, upstream (Intel) does provide limited support in the trunk code
for these old cards.  For these 8xx cards we just ship what they provide
without distro modifications.  Thus I would recommend that you raise the
issue with upstream directly, by reporting it at bugs.freedesktop.org,
and work on getting a fix into trunk.

Fwiw, often with these type of bugs the problem has to do with the
dimensions of the photo exceeding some GPU hardware limit.  You could
diagnose this further yourself  by experimenting with different sized
images and see if there is an X or Y dimension at which the system
fails.  Knowing that number can help developers narrow in on what buffer
limit is being hit.
