This problem - i386/x86_64 arch versions MISMATCH while apt-get upgrade
affects MANY packages. I had hit about 20 (sic!) such packages while
11.10 -> 12.04 upgrade. This can be resolved by manually deleting
mismatched i386 packages and then apt-get -f install restart. It took
about 1,5 hours only searching and deleting such packages...

It very annoying problem (I did hit it in 11.10 with libc-bin).
